BIOGRAPHY
ANDROMEDA TURRE IS A CONSUMMATE PERFORMER AND COMPOSER WHO HAS HONED HER
CRAFT OVER A LIFETIME IMMERSED IN MUSIC. BORN INTO A FAMILY OF JAZZ MUSICIANS,
ANDROMEDA WAS FORTUNATE TO GLEAN FROM THE GREATS, INCLUDING DIZZY GILLESPIE, MAX
ROACH, WYNTON MARSALIS AS WELL AS HER PARENTS STEVE TURRE AND AKUA DIXON.
FORMALLY TRAINED AT THE BOSTON CONSERVATORY, WHERE SHE STUDIED THEATER, AND AT
BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC, WHERE SHE FOCUSED ON VOCAL PERFORMANCE, HER TALENTS
HAVE TAKEN HER AROUND THE WORLD, FROM TOURING WITH RAY CHARLES, TO REIGNING AS
THE "QUEEN OF THE BLUES," AT TOKYO DISNEY AND HEADLINING FESTIVALS WITH HER OWN
MUSIC IN 17 COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE. TURRE’S ARTISTIC PRACTICE IS ROOTED IN PROVIDING HER
AUDIENCE WITH AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE, INVITING THEM INTO NEW DEPTHS OF PERSPECTIVE
AND SELF DISCOVERY.
IN ADDITION TO HER VOCAL TALENTS, ANDROMEDA IS AN ACCOMPLISHED COMPOSER WHOSE
ORIGINAL WORKS HAVE BEEN FEATURED IN FILM, TELEVISION, AND VIDEO GAMES. HER MUSIC IS
DEEPLY INFLUENCED BY HER LIFE’S EXPERIENCES, AND OFTEN ADDRESSES THEMES OF SOCIAL
JUSTICE, SPIRITUALITY AND SELF-DISCOVERY. SHE COMPOSED THE SCORE AND 13 ORIGINAL
SONGS FOR LENA: LESSONS FROM A LADY, A MUSICAL ABOUT THE LIFE OF LENA HORNE, AND
HAS BEEN HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER AS A CURATOR OF BESPOKE MUSIC EXPERIENCES FOR
CORPORATE EVENTS. ANDROMEDA'S WORK AS AN ARTISTIC DIRECTOR FOR CENTRAL PARK'S
2022 & 2023 JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION AND MUSIC SUPERVISOR FOR AQUILA THEATER'S
ADAPTATION OF THE GREAT GATSBY, DEMONSTRATES HER ABILITY TO CREATE

CREATIVELY GROUNDED IN HER COMMITMENT TO USING HER ART AS A TOOL FOR POSITIVE

COLLECTIVE HERA, ONE WITH THE ESTEEMED JAZZ TRIO OF LAURENCE HOBGOOD, ORION TURRE
AND JAMES ROBBINS, AS WELL AS A NEW PROJECT OF HER OWN ENTITLED “FROM THE EARTH”
WHICH SHE RECEIVED A 2023 JAZZ ROAD CREATIVE ARTIST GRANT FROM SOUTH ARTS, FUNDED
BY THE DORIS DUKE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION WITH ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FROM THE ANDREW
W. MELLON FOUNDATION AS WELL AS A NYSCA SUPPORT FOR ARTISTS GRANT. IN ADDITION, SHE
CONTINUES TO TOUR AND PERFORM INTERNATIONALLY.
BASED IN NEW YORK, ON THE TRADITIONAL HOMELAND OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES, INCLUDING
THE MUNSEE LENAPE AND RAMAPOO/RAMAPOUGH TRIBAL NATION, ANDROMEDA IS ALSO A
SPEAKER, TRAINED AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY AS A DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PRACTITIONER,
SHE BRINGS HER UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE AND INSIGHTS TO THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. HER
DEDICATION TO PROMOTING DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION IS FURTHER DEMONSTRATED
THROUGH HER WORK WITH GROWING UP JAZZ, A POWERFUL KEYNOTE THAT TEACHES BLACK
HISTORY THROUGH THE LENS OF JAZZ. FOR THIS INITIATIVE, SHE WAS AWARDED THE 2022
WOMEN OF DISTINCTION AWARD FROM NY STATE SENATE AND COUNTY LEGISLATORS. GROWING
UP JAZZ CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON SIRIUSXM AS ANDROMEDA HOSTS HER OWN SHOW ON THE
REAL JAZZ CHANNEL EVERY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY FROM 11AM-5PM EST. WITH A POWERFUL
VOICE, BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE, AND DEDICATION TO HER CRAFT AND CAUSES, ANDROMEDA
